Do you like working with people and thrive on the challenge of enabling disabled or vulnerable people to enjoy an independent way of life?

Our client, a Housing Association, is currently looking for a skilled professional to provide a housing related support service within the South West of Shropshire, particularly Ludlow and Cleobury Mortimer.  The salary is £17,000 - £19,000 plus excellent benefits.

The Housing Support Officer will be responsible for providing a comprehensive housing support service to vulnerable people in order to promote their independence.  In this rewarding position, you will work to support customers into wider community integration, help people feel safe, reduce debt dependency and actively support service users into purposeful activities.  You will also be required to deliver a community alarms service to nominated individuals.

Candidates should have good knowledge of the benefits system and the skills to help people understand money and budgeting.  You must have a commitment to anti-discriminatory working along with a non-judgmental and empathetic attitude towards sensitive issues.  With a good level of education and IT competencies, you will be able to manage a complex and varied workload whilst working either independently or as part of a team.

Due to the nature of this role, along with undertaking an enhanced CRB check, the Housing Support Officer should have access to a vehicle and possess a valid UK driving licence.

Our client owns and manages 4500 homes in Shropshire and Herefordshire, including 22 sheltered housing schemes, a supported housing scheme for young people and a refuge for women escaping domestic violence.
