Newsletter Issue 6 2007

Welcome

Welcome to the 6th edition of our newsletter.

This issue provides you with a brief insight into our recent sucess at the CIPD Recruitment Exhibition/ HRSS 2007 and also with recently completed graduate recruitment activity.

In addition we look at an article which highlights that there are now over 1200 online job boards available in the UK and Ireland. A major problem for SME's who are considering online recruitment for the first time.

Main Story:

New product met with great enthusiasm at HRSS 2007 in Olympia London

apoint – our web based technology designed to provide small to medium sized businesses with an introduction to e-recruitment was met with great enthusiasm from visitors at the HRSS 2007.

Commenting on the event Andy Pierson, Director stated:

“This years event has been a great success for networx, we successfully launched the apoint system with a large amount of interest. We were also show casing our other services; Sourcing and Managing services, apoint+ and Graduate recruitment, which all received positive interest from prospective clients. The hard work now is organising and following up on all the leads that we have received”

Over the two day duration, we achieved record levels of interest in our service and product offerings and are currently in the process of following up many promising leads. With this level of success we have already booked the same space at next years event.

GRADUATE SERVICE achieves great results

Two Sheffield based companies have achieved high levels of success through their recently completed graduate recruitment activity ran by networx.

Leading International Engineering Group, Doncasters have placed 10 graduates whilst International Stainless Steel company, Outokumpu placed 8 graduates.

With different objectives and needs networx partnered these two major companies to develop a tailored recruitment strategy. Our Graduate services included identifying the appropriate sites to attract the right candidates; we used our apoint system to direct all candidates to one application form, we then pre-sifted the candidates, invited relevant candidates to an assessment centre, we ran the assessment days and finally handled the successful and unsuccessful candidates.

Senior Client Relations Manager for networx, Hayley Cayton commented:

“The initial response for Doncasters was phenomenal we had 785 applications for only ten positions. It was my responsibility along with my Account Manager, Heather to source and manage these candidates. The Assessment centres that we arranged were ran by myself along with the line managers of the companies recruiting for, we did a number of activities and testing to identify the relevant candidates before interviews took place on the day. Both client and I were extremely satisfied with the results achieved.”

As with all our recruitment solutions – every consideration is given to providing a first class candidate experience. The below email from a candidate illustrates the level of service that we provide on behalf of and with our clients.

“As a whole I thought the whole graduate selection process was very well planned and implemented to a high standard. I was very pleased with the warm welcome Doncasters showed towards me, which included the hospitality at the interview and assessment centre as well as the reimbursement of the petrol and hotel costs. I also found the communication by email, telephone and letters towards me was very warm and welcome, and it gave a feeling of Doncasters showing a very good attitude towards their graduates.

The assessment centre was very well designed, and tested many personal attributes. The tasks and group activities kept the day interesting and challenging, which meant the graduates are always tested at a high level. I really enjoyed the colour-blind exercise and felt the self-appraisal exercise was a very good way of judging a persons personality.

Finally there was the right mix of activities at the assessment centre, by this I mean there was times where we could interact in teams and other times there was a more individual approach needed. Therefore the overall flexibility of the assessment centre was excellent.”

What they say what we think:

SME employers face more than 1,200 job sites... and counting Onrec – 21st June 2007.

What they say

Research conducted by Whatjobsite.com, a website dedicated to helping SME recruiters with online recruitment advertising, has found that there are now more than 1,200 job sites in the United Kingdom and Ireland. The sheer number of sites is one of the biggest challenges facing SME recruiters who want to move online.

For the study, whatjobsite.com only included those sites, which would typically be considered job sites or job boards; that is, sites that carried or would carry advertising from multiple client sources. The study did not include employer websites or recruitment consultancy websites. Nonetheless, the study still found over 1,200 job sites in the United Kingdom and Ireland.

What we think

With over 6 years experience of online advertising networx has witnessed the arrival of the majority of these 1200 online job boards and have had the opportunity to explore the strengths and weaknesses of each site as and when they have been launched.

The results of our assessments provide the platform of knowledge we utilise today to advertise our clients vacancies. SME recruiters who are currently looking at online advertising as a new method of recruitment indeed face a significant challenge and often a degree of risk.

Not only do networx offer significant cost savings to advertise on a minimum of 5 job boards but our experience ensures that vacancies are placed on the most suitable job boards to optimise results and eliminate any risk of advertising on newly launched websites.
