The Doncasters Group is a leading international engineering group that manufactures precision components and assemblies for the aerospace, industrial gas turbines, specialist automotive fasteners and petrochemical markets.
Doncasters operates from sites in the UK, Continental Europe, USA, China and Mexico. The client base is genuinely global and comprises most of the industry leaders in its relevant areas of activity. The group currently employs just over 6,350 members of staff worldwide.
The aim:
Doncasters had traditionally just recruited graduates on an ad hoc site-by-site basis but wanted to develop of a group wide Graduate development program that would allow them to recruit and then develop the best graduates to become future managers within their business.
What networx did:
The program devised and administered on behalf of Doncasters included:
- Expertly copy written adverts, advertised on a combination of generic and graduate specific job boards, combined with pro-active e-shots to target the widest audience of relevant graduates.
- All applications manually reviewed and categorised against selection criteria to identify the most suitable candidates.
- A bespoke selection process involving initial one to one interviews and a specially designed assessment centre identifying key skills and competencies of candidates through presentations, Individual and group exercises and Generic or job specific interviews
- Feedback provided to all applicants (successful and unsuccessful) ensuring a professional corporate image was maintained throughout the process to each and every candidate.
The results:
- The entire process from initial consultation to offers being made was completed in less than 120 days
- Over 850 initial graduate applications where received nationwide. Every application was acknowledged and informed regarding the status of their application throughout every stage of the process.
- 100 applicants were invited to first interviews at various locations nationwide. Over 80% attended their first interview.
- 50 applicants were then invited to attend full day assessment centres. Only 4 invited applicants did not attend.
- Offers where made to 10 graduates and all 10 accepted their place on the Doncasters graduate scheme.
