As the Risk Assurance Analyst for Cross Keys Homes, the role holder will be responsible for providing independent assessment, analysis, and assurance of functional control environments. Focusing primarily on the documented policies, procedures and the risk register as first line defence sources, the role holder will test the basis of underlying performance metrics and review the effectiveness of first line controls and reporting and certify that enhancements have been implemented according to instruction or recommendation from Internal Audit or Directors Team. The role holder will provide advice on how failures can be addressed or avoided and work with management to ensure continuous improvement of the control environment which will include researching better practice from internal and external sources.

This role will require someone who has strong analytical skills, able to analyse results and provide recommendations to stakeholders as well as having previous experience of process management. We are looking for someone

  • Who can deliver a cyclical plan of second line reviews of CKH operational control environments in support of functional management (aligned to CIF reporting schedule).
  • To provide responsive, independent investigations into sample transactions / events / complaints or other risk triggers.
  • To focus primarily on operational risk and referencing the departmental risk registers and audit management response to internal audits, analyse the current controls environment assessing; the design adequacy and effectiveness of the controls and the ability of the business to effectively evidence these controls.
  • To apply end to end testing methodology to provide assurance that first line reporting metrics are accurate timely and reported to appropriate stakeholder to provide assurance or highlight that further risk mitigation actions are required.
  • To document and report on material risks present which are not specifically mitigated by existing controls.
  • To support directorates and teams in completing robust risk assessments for new projects and initiatives to ensure the suitability of current controls and/or that new controls are implemented as part of the project.
  • To develop templated reporting to inform stakeholders of output of reviews and support/ embed understanding of lines of defence model.


  • Demonstrable knowledge and experience of process management
  • Experience of working in a service environment with defined targets/outputs
  • Experience of reporting findings to stakeholders and making improvement recommendations
  • Ability to investigate and articulate exceptions and recommend areas for improvement
  • Ability to quickly learn new procedures and follow documented procedures across a range of disciplines
  • Ability to relate policy to desired outcomes
  • Ability to influence at all levels
