Purpose of the Role: 

 

The purpose of the Payments Authorisation Officer role is to provide the final approval and authorisation process for all outgoing payments through IBA. It will also be to provide support, direction, guidance and specialist knowledge and training to the offshore IBA team members on the specifics of the Payments approval processes where necessary 

 

Job Description: 

 

  • Ensure controls to include accuracy and deadlines are adhered to, for all the payment types including automated payment software, and on-line payments software.   

  • Provide a final authorisation point in the payment approval processes. 

  • Uploading and authorisation of relevant payment requests into associated Banking applications. 

  • Management of documentation associated to payment request approvals for audit and regulatory purposes. 

  • Communicate proactively and professionally with internal and external stakeholders. 

  • Deal promptly and effectively with payment approval queries and issues, escalating where necessary. 

  • Input into the offshore IBA Payments approval processes together with assisting on training of the offshore team to ensure the appropriate knowledge and skills are achieved. 

  • Work with the offshore team to build direct relationships with the business units and insurers therefore enabling the successful implementation of the new offshore Target Operating Model. 

  • Contribute to improvements across the payments team creating efficiencies and reducing risk. 

  • Support all company compliance, policy, risk management and audit requirements. 

  • Ensure successful completion of training and assessment exercises as assigned from the Compliance and Training Departments. 

  • Other responsibilities and activities as required. 

 

Key Role Accountabilities: 

 

Functional Knowledge/ technical knowledge: 

  • Good understanding of IBA Operations concepts and processes 

  • Understanding of offshore processes 

  • Good understanding of Sales-to-Insurer Paid (IBA operations) regulatory requirements including Client Money 

  • Familiar with business change methods and practices 

  • Familiar with Towergate and IBA compliance policies and standards 

  • Thorough understanding of End-to-end payment process 

  • Thorough understanding of payment approval mechanisms and associated banking applications

  • Effective written and oral communication skills  

  • Good attention to detail / thoroughness 

  • Strong planning and organisational skills 

  • Able to handle ambiguity and manage through change 

  • Good adaptability, flexibility and resourcefulness

  • Able to present information in a concise efficient and professional manner to offshore staff.

Qualifications & Experience: 

 

  • Education - GCSE Maths & English Grade C or above (or equivalent). 

  • Specialised Knowledge – IBA Operations processes 

  • Skills – Microsoft Excel skills to intermediate level 

  • Experience - Previous team management and change experience in an operations environment. Previous financial services experience.
