Crest Nicholson Midlands are recruiting a Senior Estimator based from our regional office in Tamworth, Staffordshire. As an experienced Estimator, you will lead on all costing, budgeting, technical appraisals and abnormal costing for potential land opportunities and design specifications for standard house/apartment types. Reporting to the Commercial Director, your role is an integral part of the overall Commercial strategy and operations alongside Surveying and Buying members of the team. 

The Role

You will carry out appraisals, compile preliminary and final estimates of the finished products, producing estimates from drawings, specifications and scope of works.

Continually working to find the most cost-effective and practical solutions whilst achieving high quality materials, build and design, you will play an essential role in putting forward your strategy and deliverables for Operational Commencement on all new sites procured throughout each year as well as producing potential re-plans of existing sites.

You will lead the way with day to day deliverables and goals including cost analysis, reviewing drawings, specifications and scope of works, updating and maintaining a Group house type library, full schedule of rates and any other relevant tasks. 


We're looking for the following skills and experience: 

  • Extensive experience in the Estimating field with strong Construction and Housebuilding background
  • Good product knowledge of New Homes Development
  • The ability to manage confidential and sometimes sensitive information 
  • Strong ability to work under pressure
  • Experience of managing, training and coaching staff
  • Strong communication skills
  • Be commercially aware with analytical and proactive approach towards problem solving
  • Ability to impact and influence others
  • Ability to understand drawings and specifications
  • CSCS card
  • Minimum qualification HNC, Degree educated preferable
  • RICS/CIOB or other relevant body Membership
