Job Purpose

Early Years Teachers work in close partnership with Nursery Managers. Their primary objective is to continuously raise the quality of provision within the setting. They take a lead role in overseeing the delivery of EYFS across the nursery, carry out spot checks on the quality of planning, observations and learning journeys, and lead changes across all rooms and age groups when necessary.

Early Years Teachers are ultimately accountable for the quality of childcare provision across the nursery, and are expected to display resourcefulness, strong organisation skills and creativity with the goal of delivering year over year improvements.

This role is at one of our larger settings based in Audenshaw, Manchester.

Main responsibilities

  • Ensures the highest standards of childcare are delivered at the setting;
  • Creates a learning environment where children can explore, investigate and solve age appropriate problems, providing activities that support all area of EYFS;
  • Leads the delivery of quality improvement plans;
  • Conducts regular staff supervisions and peer observations, creating plans for staff development;
  • Conducts spot checks on the quality of planning, observations and learning journeys.

You'll be a good fit if you have:

  • Early Years Degree (Level 6) or equivalent                           
  • Experience in a leadership capacity                        
  • Understanding of legislation and regulation of early years education and care                
  • Understanding of special educational needs and equality of opportunity                
  • Experience in planning provision and cohort tracking                     
  • The ability to communicate effectively both in writing and orally   
  • Paediatric first-aid and food hygiene trained  
  • Experience in providing staff training
