Whitgift is one of Britain’s leading independent boarding and day schools for boys aged between 10 and 18 years, with approximately 1500 pupils and over 100 boarding or flexi-boarding pupils. It was founded in 1596 by Elizabeth I’s last Archbishop of Canterbury, John Whitgift, and is the oldest school in Croydon. Whitgift enjoys facilities of outstanding quality, amongst the best available nationally, in a beautiful parkland estate in South Croydon with excellent links to London, Surrey and the south coast.

Whitgift has been an IB World School since 2004 and achieves outstanding results. In 2021, the average points score at Whitgift was 41.6/45, placing the school amongst the Top 10 IB schools in the world.

During the Easter holidays Whitgift will run its own IB revision course for local and international students, utilising all its fantastic facilities and modern boarding house. Whitgift Easter IB Revision Course (part of Whitgift Short Courses) is designed to appeal to girls and boys in their final year of the IB Diploma Programme.

We are seeking to appoint a number of inspirational IB teachers to teach Biology, Chemistry and Physics at our 2022 Easter revision course. Successful applicants will need to have a passion for teaching as well as an imaginative and creative approach, with a focus on student-centred learning. Applicants will be able to deliver engaging and inspiring lessons using up to date resources.

Applicants must have a university degree and be a well-qualified teacher (PGCE or equivalent) with experience teaching the IB course in their specialist field. Teachers with experience of teaching in a short courses’ context are particularly welcome to apply. Candidates should have a high standard of professionalism, be able to work at a fast pace and cope efficiently with record keeping and other administrative duties as well as teaching. Native/near-native competence in spoken and written English is essential.

Applicants must be able to present evidence of their right to work in the UK for the duration of the contract.

We welcome applications from all sectors of our community as we aspire to attract staff that match the social and cultural diversity of our student intake.

For more than 400 years, Whitgift has been transforming boys’ lives through education.

Whitgift 2025 was created as a result of the input and imagination of staff and students and the next few years will represent an exciting time of evolution for the school, both in terms of our site development plan and the educational partnerships we are embarking on.
