This is a Permanent, Full Time vacancy that will close in {x} days at {xx:xx} BST.

 

Job Purpose:
The main purpose of this role is to prepare the management accounts for BIB and to assist the Financial Controller of Besso with other accounting and banking workloads.  The role will also connect to the Price Forbes Financial Controller who was the previous FC of BIB during a handover period.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Maintenance of appropriate accounting records which give an accurate picture, at any given time, of the financial position of the Firm and which comply with statutory requirements, accounting standards and industry best practice.
  • Processing of monthly journals.
  • Balance sheet reconciliation preparation and self-review.
  • Analytical reviews and commentary.
  • In co-operation with the Company’s auditors, assist with the preparation of the annual accounts of the Company in accordance with applicable accounting standards.
  • Preparation of monthly management accounts.
  • Assist with the completion of FCA regulatory reporting.
  • Support in any activity and/or specific project work required.
  • Authorise office and client payments
  • Assist in cash flow reporting within the Segment
  • Confidential payroll reconciliation

Representing the Firm:

  • Champion the Firm name and core values.
  • Represent the Firm with clients, agents, suppliers and other organisations.

Compliance:

  • Comply with relevant legal, regulatory and Firm compliance requirements, Errors and Omissions (E&O) compliance procedures and quality initiatives.
  • Escalate any potential E&O's to Head of Finance and the Legal & Compliance team at the earliest opportunity.

Knowledge Required:

  • Basic understanding and knowledge of general financial accounting principles and in particular the rules applicable to accounting for insurance intermediaries.
  • Basic understanding of the law and practice of general insurance.

Skills Required:

  • Ability to organise work effectively
  • Ability to prioritise and organise own workload to ensure that deadlines are adhered to and targets are met.
  • Ability to work under pressure.
  • Ability to liaise with colleagues when appropriate.
  • Ability to develop and sustain relationships with both internal and external customers. 
  • Ability to construct effective written communications.
  • Confident and effective oral communication skills.
  • IT Skills: MS Word, MS Excel, MS Outlook, Sun and Oracle Financials
  • Part Qualified ACA, ACCA or CIMA accountant.  Alternatively, fully qualified AAT.
