This is a Permanent, Full Time vacancy that will close in {x} days at {xx:xx} BST.

This is a great opportunity for an actuarial/quant modeller to develop and support our range of pension scheme asset, liability and risk models.  Working within the Insights and Analytics practice, the successful candidate will take ownership of several of our modelling approaches, in particular the firm’s yield curve methodologies.

You will:

  • Own and maintain modelling approaches, including:
    • yield curve methodologies;
    • pension scheme cashflows; and
    • market data ingestion.
  • Build an understanding of the actuarial, system design and risk issues relevant to the modelling approaches.
  • Work alongside high-performing, multi-disciplinary teams (comprising of developers, delivery leads, testers and actuaries).
  • Help the development team understand the requirements of complex financial calculations.
  • Assist with test, deployment and support activities where appropriate.

About you:

Essential qualifications and experience include:

  • A strong academic record, ideally in a numeric subject.
  • Actuarial work experience (fully/partly qualified or given up exams)
  • A strong understanding of pensions actuarial modelling, with a particular focus on fixed interest, inflation and derivative instruments that are core to actuarial valuation methodologies.
  • Excellent IT skills, ideally with familiarity with a programming language.
  • A high degree of accuracy and strong attention to detail.
  • Creative problem-solving and analytical skills
  • An effective communicator and a great team player.


You will likely be:

  • Aware of and interested in the software delivery lifecycle
  • Some familiarity with software development, particularly in c# (R optional)
  • Self-motivated with a drive to learn and share knowledge.
  • Focused on continuous learning and improvement.
  • Able to effectively articulate actuarial concepts with team members/stakeholders from a non-actuarial background.
