About You

 

We are seeking a Senior Quantity Surveyor to join our multi-disciplined and talented Southern Division Commercial Team. With a proven track record of working in both development and commercial sectors you will have experience in managing commercial resources of assigned projects to maximise cashflow and margin. You will possess a good working knowledge of JCT forms of contract, sound technical knowledge of different building types to include framed structures and can combine efficiency, attention to detail, and an exemplar work ethic.

 

The retirement sector is constantly growing and evolving to meet the needs of our customers. Working as part of a multi-discipline project team and reporting to the Divisional Commercial Director the post-holder will be able to work autonomously and deal with complex cases and escalated issues. You will also assess, review, and mitigate commercial and contractual risks and implement McCarthy Stone policies for risk management, prepare and present monthly cost reports and support the Project team with commercial and contractual expertise.

 

Whilst the role will be based out of our Ringwood office, we have recently adopted a hybrid way of working which typically requires 1 or 2 days a week in the office, with the remainder working from home and travelling to sites.

Key Responsibilities

  • Responsible for achieving accurate financial control of individual sites in accordance with Company policies
  • Tendering and budget creation.
  • Responsible for collation, detailed review and completion of CBR reports to Commercial Manager/Director to Group programmes.
  • Undertake customer and stakeholder management for area of responsibility
  • Build methods and design process.

These are in addition to the core responsibilities of the role.

 

Person Specification

  • Professional RICS accredited degree desirable. Minimum A level/ HNC (including GCSE Maths and English grades A – C).
  • CSCS Card.
  • A working knowledge of Information Technology commensurate with fulfilling the requirements of the role, including use of Microsoft Office suite.
  • Able to organise and prioritise workload and to adapt to tight deadlines
  • Good attention to detail and the ability to work collaboratively.
  • Excellent relationship management skills: resilient, calm under pressure including during interaction with internal and external stakeholders are highly sought-after attributes for this role.
  • Full UK Driving licence with ability to travel extensively to fulfil role.
