WRc is searching for a Trainee Field Engineer to join our team in Swindon on a full-time, permanent basis.

This is an exciting opportunity to work with a small team, assisting in carrying out our pipeline inspection surveys. You will get the opportunity to learn how to use cutting-edge pipeline survey technologies and techniques while working across the UK.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Undertake in-pipe inspections across the UK and further afield to deliver essential leakage data to end clients


  • Able to drive a 3.5-tonne long wheelbase van into City Centre locations, or off-road (Full Clean UK Driving Licence)
  • The desire to work outdoors in all weather
  • Good level of fitness to cope with a physically demanding job
  • Happy to work away occasionally for periods of time
  • The ability to cover night work/weekend work


  • Exposure to the utilities industry (water / sewerage / gas) and pipeline inspection technologies
  • An understanding of simple electronics and/or hydraulic systems

Education and Experience

  • Minimum of 5 GCSE’s grade 4 / C and above (or equivalent)
  • Experienced with the use of computers (including Access, Excel and Email)
