This is a Full Time/Flexible Working, Permanent vacancy that will close in {x} days at {xx:xx} BST.

We have exciting opportunities for an Operations Manager to join our Smartspace team, being responsible for the identification and implementation of functional excellence initiatives across the operations function, working closely with the Operations Director and Head of Operational Improvement and Quality to drive continuous improvement throughout the function. You will be also be responsible for leading project teams from pre-construction through to delivery and handover, operating across multiple workstreams or sectors, working alongside senior commercial colleagues to ensure projects are delivered to safety, quality, and financial targets, whilst ensuring that all individuals and projects are compliant with the Wates Operating Framework.

As an Operations Manager you will possess the ability to identify project risk and can effectively work through the issue, utilising resources at your disposal to ensure the risk is thoroughly understood and mitigated so as not to cause financial, programme or reputation damage to the business, providing exemplar leadership across the operations function and wider business.

 

Key Accountabilities will include:

 

  • Identify, implement, and ensure the successful application of operational excellence initiatives throughout the Operations function, ensuring they are understood and implemented to ensure continuous improvement for the benefit of the function and the Smartspace business.
  • To lead project teams from pre-construction through to delivery and handover, ensuring  projects are delivered  to safety, quality, and financial targets, whilst ensuring customer expectations are clearly defined, understood, and delivered upon.
  • Lead and support our Smartspace safety strategy, delivering our zero harm initiative through the creation and implementation of a positive safety culture, driven by observational praise and challenge, visible leadership, supply engagement, corrective coaching and implementation of the Smartspace bold commitments, whilst at all times setting exemplar standards and behaviours for others to follow.
  • Support our 2025 environmental strategy through the implementation of waste and carbon reduction measures identified in the Smartspace business across Smartspace projects, whilst positively contributing to nature enhancement, aligning with customer environmental targets.
  • Proactively manage the customer relationship during pre-construction, delivery, and post construction, including change management, risk management and decision making to effectively manage expectations, and maintain long-term relationships.

 

To be successful in the role you will already be in an operational leadership role and have experience in successfully managing high performing project teams, complex projects and been accountable for implementing functional improvement measures that have driven increased business performance.
