We’re looking for a Risk and Assurance Advisor to join our great Governance Team and help to build on its success as we move forward!  

This crucial role will provide risk oversight and controls assurance of the Group’s business along with delivering the Internal Audit Plan.

The Role  

Risk Management is really important in ensuring we achieve our goals and provide our customers with a place they’re proud to call home. We know that a fundamental part of that, is being able to build great relationships with colleagues and external stakeholders.  

We’re looking for someone who is enthusiastic about all things risk management and can engage with individuals at all levels, both internally and externally.  Our ideal candidate is someone who can be innovative and forward-thinking in getting colleagues to embrace risk management, be accountable and make Yorkshire Housing a truly risk mature organisation.

  • Supporting the Senior Leadership Team and Operational Leads to ensure accurate and timely reviews of the Strategic and Operational Risk Registers for the Group.  Also, assisting operational business managers to ensure that risk calculations are accurate and risk mitigating actions are effective. 

  • Responsible for gathering information and drafting risk update reports to the leadership teams, Committees and Boards along with ensuring reviews of early warning indicators and risk appetite metrics.  This’ll include collating information for the production of monthly performance clinic reports. 

  • You’ll support to the Governance and Compliance Manager in developing and managing risk reporting across the organisation and in providing training and giving advice to the business on the application of the Risk Management Framework. 

  • Coordinating internal audits and follow up reviews with managers, also monitoring internal audit recommendations and carrying out management audits commissioned by different areas of the business.

So, what do we need from you? 

To be successful in this role you’ll need experience in the principles of Risk Management.  Alongside this, you’ll need amazing communication skills with the ability to build relationships with senior stakeholders in the business. 

Also, you’ll have great attention to detail, be analytical when needed and be able to make the most of technology and data! 

We don’t need a ‘yes’ person in this role, you’ll need the ability to influence and challenge as appropriate. 

 

It’d be a bonus if you had: 

A professional qualification in Enterprise Risk Management, such as Institute of Risk Management Certificate and previously worked in housing.
