WRc is looking for a Project Engineer with experience in mechanical engineering and/or instrumentation in the water sector to join our Technical Consulting team in Swindon on a full-time, permanent basis. The position is primarily office based, so as to be close to our test facilities, though a hybrid arrangement with typically 50% homeworking can be accommodated.

You will lead on and carry out a variety of practical and consultancy projects focussed on testing and approval of a wide variety of products – including flowmeters, pipe fittings, instrumentation, pumps etc – used across the entire clean and wastewater cycle. You will be working with our clients, both users and supply chain, to identify their needs and complete projects that address their needs. This may include working to established standards or developing novel test protocols

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, direct and carry out projects and research in accordance with client needs
  • Direct testing and experimental work working with our test technicians
  • Develop experimental programmes to support testing new products
  • Process, analyse and interpret data to provide meaningful outputs
  • Compile technical reports
  • Communicate with clients and equipment suppliers to develop ideas and proposals
  • Provide specialist input into wider consultancy projects

Person Specification

  • Minimum of a degree in a STEM discipline, preferably in engineering or applied physics
  • Experience with water sector
  • Interest in new technologies and their the applications
  • Ability to define problems, collect and interpret data with excellent IT skills, draw valid conclusions, and make recommendations
  • Experience with smart meters / AMR / AMI technology would be an advantage but not essential
