Binnies an RSK company are recruiting NEC ECC Project Managers to join our Flood Coast & Maritime team to administer contracts for the construction of clients’ vital assets as part of the Environment Agency’s £5.2bn programme of work. Your expertise and experience will strengthen the Environment Agency’s £5.2bn programme in Flood and Coastal Erosion Risk Management (FCERM). You will be joining and supported by a team that specialises in the delivery of Flood and Coastal Erosion Risk Management (FCERM) projects where our ethos and collaborative behaviours drive how we work. 

We have opportunities across England with offices in Bradford-on-Avon, Birmingham, Chester, Exeter, Leeds, Reading, Warrington and offer remote working arrangements, but the the ability to travel to project sites and Client offices within your region is essential.

Key Duties

  • Act as Project Manager under the NEC4 Engineering and Construction Contract (ECC) for the construction of flood risk management and environmental enhancement assets
  • Work as one team with the Client and Contractor to create shared cultures and behaviours whilst working together to build supportive and inclusive relationships
  • Create alignment to ensure the objectives of all parties are delivered while considering the wider context and long term aims of the Client
  • Jointly own problems and openly explore options to come up with well-supported, optimum value solutions whilst making timely decisions
  • Share ideas, experiences and expertise to improve and innovate, and share lessons learned
  • Promote effective engagement with stakeholders and the community and adapt project approach, communication and solutions to their needs
  • Ensure outcomes are delivered that meet commercial, quality, safe and sustainable objectives

Required Qualifications & Training:

  • Chartered professional (ICE, APM, CIWEM, RICS or equivalent)
  • NEC3 or NEC4 accredited Project Manager
  • Current CITB Site Management Safety Training Scheme (SMSTS) or IOSH Managing Safely in Construction qualification is preferable
  • Attended CIRIA’s ‘Environmental Good Practice on Site’ training or CITB ‘Site Environmental Awareness Training Scheme within the last five years is preferable
  • Hold a relevant CSCS card or equivalent
  • Hold a valid UK driving licence

Required Experience

  • Experience in managing NEC ECC contracts on infrastructure projects
  • Experience in the delivery of flood risk management and/or coastal erosion projects is preferential, or other long linear or water utility infrastructure projects
  • Project leadership advising on contract strategy
  • Review of contract documents for ambiguity and inconsistency
  • Knowledge and ability to review and help optimise project programmes
  • Demonstrable and effective management of project risk and change
  • Ability to prepare monthly reports and chair meetings
  • Collaborative working with the ECC Supervisor and cost managers to make assessments based on site records and data
  • Good knowledge and understanding of the CDM Regulations are essential
  • Knowledge of consents and approvals required to deliver FCERM projects is preferable
  • Knowledge of environmental constraints affecting the delivery of FCERM projects is preferable
  • Identification of opportunities to minimise whole-life costs and carbon
  • Knowledge, understanding and application of the requirements for contract Completion and the correction of Defects.
