Liberty Steel have an exciting new opportunity for a Senior Quality Systems Specialist to join the Quality Assurance and Compliance team at our Stocksbridge site but may include some travel to our other manufacturing sites. The role of this team is to ensure the business is fully quality compliant across the organisations at all levels and locations.

The Senior Quality Systems Specialist will to ensure that the LSS Quality Management System (QMS) is effectively implemented and certified to all the relevant approvals. This will include automotive (IATF 16949) and aerospace (AS9100) quality standards, UKAS 17025 certification for our laboratory testing, and Nadcap aerospace special process certification for materials testing, heat treatment and NDT as well as the requested customer quality requirements.

Effective interpersonal skills are essential for the role of the Senior Quality Systems Specialist as you will be required to build, maintain, manage and influence relationships across the business, with customers and accreditation bodies.

The main duties of the Senior Quality Systems Specialist will include, but not be limited to:

  • Evaluate and translate the QA requirements of the ISO 9001, ISO9120, and IATF 16949 standards.
  • Support, guide, and lead, third party certification and customer audits on behalf of LSS, supplying expert knowledge of the QMS. Collating and uploading NADCAP pre-audit checklists. Liaise and be first point of contact for UKAS and Nadcap audits. Report on findings and ensure effective root cause analysis and timely close out of any NCRs.  
  • Manage the internal auditing programme and perform internal audits at all levels in the organisation.
  • Provide a quality management systems service to ensure all departments of LSS comply with the requirements.
  • Supply expert guidance to local process owners to ensure approvals are maintained and continuously developed driving customer satisfaction.   
  • Provide support to the test certification process and support the QA and Compliance Manager in guaranteeing its independence and integrity and accuracy in line with the quality and customer requirements.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Current knowledge of quality management systems, quality auditing, and the requirements set out in customer, national and international specifications.

•     A degree in a relevant discipline, ideally in a technical/manufacturing discipline, with at least 3 years relevant experience.

•     Exposure to quality management system requirements in a manufacturing or preferably testing/laboratory environment (auditing, product and process technical standards, quality procedures, core tools etc.)
