Our charity exists because we believe it is wrong for girls and women to be denied the joy, fulfilment and lifelong benefits of sport. And yet still so many are, even here in the UK. Too many women and girls are missing out on feeling happy and confident in their bodies, on the companionship, exhilaration and liberation of simply playing and forgetting day-to-day stresses. Women from disadvantaged communities and women from minority groups are missing out most of all. 

 

We are looking for a Campaigns and Communications Officer to join our team during this exciting new era for women’s sport. You will have a passion for our cause and be an energetic advocate with a flair for storytelling that resonates and builds relationships. Ideally, you’re digitally savvy as well as great with words so you can drive our social media and web content, draft press releases and craft beautiful newsletters. You will be dynamic, take the initiative and hungry to grow. No two days are the same at Women in Sport, whether you’re helping to design a new campaign, liaising with journalists or representing us externally, you’ll enjoy a fast-paced environment and must be more than willing to get stuck in.

Main responsibilities are: 

  • Design and deliver high quality digital initiatives on all social media channels. 

  • Help to create new and exciting campaigns to increase awareness of key issues and of the charity. 

  • Provide a high-quality interface with print and broadcast media maximising the value of our spokespeople, ambassadors to deliver our messages. 

  • Deliver effective marketing and communication to promote Women in Sport, partners, activities, success and impact. 

 

What we’re looking for from you: 

  • Strong innate external communications skills - written and oral - to create and curate communications to the tone and voice of WiS to engage diverse audiences on various media. 

  • Empathy to the impact of the use of language or imagery on diverse audiences. 

  • Belief in the ability of sport to transform lives and the need to address the current inequalities in access to sport and leisure and the drive to do so. 

  • Strong collaboration and team working ethic with the ability to listen respectfully. 

  • Our culture is about being highly collaborative, cause-led, and open to constructive challenge. 

  • We look for natural team players who thrive in a fast-pace environment, exude enthusiasm, energy and willingness to meet challenging demands and work to deadlines.

Our charity believes it is wrong for girls and women to be denied equal access to the joy, fulfilment and lifelong benefits of sport. Sport can transform lives, but due to gender stereotypes, institutional bias and economic and race inequalities far too many women and girls are missing out. 

Women in Sport has been working since 1984 to change this. We know that sport can build the mental and physical resilience women need to thrive in life, but sport and society need to change for this to be the norm. That’s why our purpose is to give every woman and girl the opportunity to take part in sport and inspire her to do so.
