12-month secondment (maternity cover)

We are looking for an existing colleague who is looking for that next step in their career to join our Housing Team as an Income Officer.

Within this role you will engage with customers, colleagues, and partners to ensure all income owed to Alliance is collected efficiently and effectively.

This will involve investigating Housing Benefit and Universal Credit claims, escalating rent arrears cases, taking appropriate action in mitigating the effects of debt and the impact of welfare reform through early intervention.

The role cuts across and impacts the organisation in terms of maximising and collecting the Association’s rental and service charge income.

About you:

We are looking for someone with experience working in a customer service environment who uses their excellent written and verbal communication skills to provide exceptional service.

You will already have demonstrable knowledge of Income Management with an emphasis on Housing and DWP benefits and be able to make sound judgement calls on complex situations.

You will have experience in or understand debt recovery and/or income maximisation alongside the ability to help vulnerable families and other disadvantaged groups.

The successful candidate will also be subject to a satisfactory Enhanced DBS check. Due to the nature of the role, a full driving licence with your access to your own car is required.

As this is a secondment, you will need to discuss this opportunity with your manager prior to applying. Before being invited to interview, the Head of your Area will be asked to confirm if your application can be progressed, dependant on the current needs of the department.

We are Disability Confident Leader and guarantee that any individual with a disability will get an interview if they match all the essential criteria for the role.

We want you to have every opportunity to showcase your talents so please let us know if there is anything we can do to make the recruitment process work for you (adjustments due to a disability e.g dyslexia, times of the day to avoid due to childcare or caring responsibilities to name a few).

Here, you can work where and how you choose*. It’s about outputs rather than time spent in the office. You can work from one of our hubs, your home, or by connecting to a hotspot if you’re out and about.
