We are looking for a Technician to join the Mobile Plant Maintenance team. The Mobile Plant Maintenance Team provides a maintenance and repair service for a wide range of equipment and mobile plant at the Liberty Steel Rotherham, Stocksbridge and Brinsworth sites.

  • The primary focus for this position will be for electrical breakdown fault finding, diagnostics and repairs on site vans, FLTs, HGVs, locomotives, mobile cranes, pallet trucks, battery servicing and a range of heavy industrial specialist vehicles used in the steel making business.
  • The vacancy is for a Mobile Plant Technician with specific engineering knowledge and skills to provide a mobile plant maintenance / fault-finding service. Experience of a wide range of mobile plant would be an advantage.
  • Technicians should be Level 3 apprentice trained and ideally have at least 2 years’ experience as an electrician, in auto electrics and/or in mobile plant.
  • Team members must be able to understand safe working procedures and apply recognised safety practices to each task they are undertaking including the use of appropriate personal protective equipment.
  • Team members must be self-motivated and highly flexible. They are required to work unsupervised and deliver a first-class customer service in accordance with departmental goals.
  • Key competencies are a methodical approach to work with attention to detail, analytical and problem solving skills, decision-making skills and effective verbal communication.

 

The working pattern is normally Monday to Friday 7:30-3:30 with alternative weekend 6:00-2:00 working with a midweek day off each week but flexible or part-time working would be considered.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

We are looking for the Mobile Plant Technician to have the following.

  • Apprentice, Level 3 trained
  • Ideally 2 years’ experience in maintaining vehicles or plant equipment
  • A current driving license is essential
  • Strong fault-finding skills
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Good communicator
