The Vacancy
Materials and Structures, a member of RSK Group Ltd, is looking for a Site Technician to join their team in Hemel Hempstead, UK.
Do you want to work for a multi-disciplinary consultancy providing services for over 40 years, with market leading capabilities across the construction, services and rail sectors?
What you can expect in this position:
Primarily site-based, with some office/stores time
Working in a team with civil/structural engineers and project managers
Mainly in London and the south-east but can be nationwide and occasionally international
Testing, sampling and breaking out concrete and other construction materials
Working at height and in confined spaces may be required
Anti-social hours sometimes required (evenings/night-time/weekends)
Occasional requirement to stay away from home (expenses paid)
Opportunities to progress a career in the construction engineering sector
Ongoing training/development opportunities
Responsibilities:
Testing and sampling of existing structures
Structural investigations (breaking out concrete)
Condition surveys
Working in varied and challenging locations, from construction sites to historic buildings
Developing trainees as they start in the team
Reporting findings of investigations
Communicating with clients and colleagues to ensure successful project delivery
Using your initiative to solve site challenges
Qualifications and Experience:
Enthusiasm and a willingness to learn
Strong written and verbal communication

Minimum 1 years’ relevant experience
Experience with GPR, ferroscan, half-cell, impact echo, covermeter advantageous
Good organisational skills
Computer literate, familiar with Microsoft Office applications (AutoCAD an advantage)

Good mathematics/science and/or practical skills
GCSE grade A-C in mathematics, English and science.
CSCS card and IPAF, PASMA, PTS, IRATA qualifications an advantage

How long do we keep hold of your information?
After 13 months of inactivity on the site you will be sent an automated email asking if you wish your details to be retained. At the point of your account being deactivated, your data will be fully anonymised. This is so RSK can retain data for statistical purposes. All personal information will be removed.

How can I access the information you hold about me? Your rights
