Southwark College require a dedicated, enthusiastic and qualified person to take on the role of Lecturer in Creative Media (with additional responsibility for supporting the achievement of all Creative L3 students in respect of mental health and student wellbeing).

The main responsibilities of this role include the delivery and assessment of high-quality learning programmes in Creative Digital Media, across a range of levels of further education, higher education and/or apprenticeship provision, as well as undertaking a range of programme leadership, tutorial and programme administration duties.

In addition, the successful candidate would deliver one to one subject coaching to students who need extra support in order to achieve and progress.

The successful candidate would work closely with support staff to assist students whose studies are impacted by anxiety and wellbeing issues.

Successful applicants would have technical skills in:

  • using the Adobe Creative Suite to teach graphic design, animation and 3D animation.
  • using Adobe Premiere for film editing
  • camera, lighting and sound operation for moving image production.

This post requires a strong background in the teaching of graphic design, animation broadcast and film production, and a successful candidate will have a proven track record of effective professional/vocational experience in the creative media sector.

The candidate must:

  • be qualified to honors-degree level (Level 6) (or qualified to the industry-recognised standard in a relevant field)
  • hold a post-16 teaching qualification and English and mathematics qualifications at level 2 - or be willing to achieve these within an agreed timeframe. 

An ability to self-manage workload, meet deadlines alongside strong oral and written communication skills and a good knowledge of creative industry-standard design software are all essential requirements. The hours of work will be flexible and may include evening and weekends according to demand.
