Community Responder CRAVEN and SOUTH (Ideal for someone based around Leeds, Bradford and Calderdale)

Do you love helping people in your community and want to support people to maintain their independence?  We have a great opportunity for two Community Responders to join our Customer Independence Team here at Yorkshire Housing. The role will involve a rapid response to emergencies with triage calls and physically attending when needed across Craven and South.

With no set hours, number of hours can vary depending on the workload and number of emergencies that occur.  A perfect role for someone with flexibility not looking for full-time employment but wants to continue to support the Yorkshire community and keep busy!

You might think of Yorkshire Housing as ‘just’ a housing provider, but we’re so much more than that. Yes, we own and manage nearly 20,000 homes (and counting) across Yorkshire, and make it possible for current and future customers to have a place they’re proud to call home, but we’re also all about making a positive difference in people’s lives such as enabling our older customers to continue to live independently.

What you'll be doing?

As a Community Responder you’ll work on an agreed rota basis providing emergency support for the Independent Living Services team, responding to emergency call-outs throughout the relevant zone during evenings, weekends and bank holidays.

You’ll attend pendent alarm activations, checking on the wellbeing of our customers and responding to issues in our independent living schemes keeping the team and call-out record up to date.

Full details can be found in the attached role profile.

Interested……. Here’s what we need from you

If you can provide an exceptional level of customer service that promotes customer independence, we need you! You'll have worked with older people or adults requiring support and have good knowledge of services and opportunities available for older people along with being able to administer first aid if needed.

You'll be flexible, able to use your own initiative, work well under pressure without direct supervision and have good understanding of Safeguarding. A full driving licence and access to a car for business purposes is essential.

What’s in it for you?

In return we offer £12.63 p/h for the hours you are required plus competitive stand-by rates! As a colleague at Yorkshire Housing you will also be entitled to our great rewards package

You can claim back for prescriptions, eye tests and more with our cash plan, make the most of a variety of retail discounts and take advantage of our pension scheme where we’ll match your contributions up to 9%, just to name a few.

Our people’s health and wellbeing is our top priority, and at Yorkshire Housing, you can make the most of our readily available wellbeing support package. This includes access to Perkbox’ Wellness Hub as well as a My GP service and free counselling with Health Assure.

Fine Print

At Yorkshire Housing, we’re actively building a work environment that’s inclusive as well as diverse, where everyone can contribute their best work and be themselves. We believe difference is what makes us stronger and recognise the importance of our teams reflecting the communities we serve, so we welcome and encourage candidates from all backgrounds for this role.

We know that not all candidates will meet every single desired requirement. If your experience looks a little different from what we've identified and you think you can bring value to the role, we'd love to learn more about you, please go ahead and apply!

If you require any additional support with your application, or have any further questions, please contact our lovely recruitment team via email at recruitment@yorkshirehousing.co.uk.

The fine print

The closing date for applications will be 16th June,  but we might close it early if we get lots of fab candidates, so don’t hang around.

If you’re applying for this role internally, you must inform your current Line Manager.

You'll need an enhanced DBS check for this role.

We’re looking for people who want to get stuck in and make a positive difference to people’s lives. We want you to own the work you do and achieve impact.

You’ll make it happen by being curious and creating trust with our customers and each other. We want you to love what you do and have fun along the way.

We’ve got a few ‘house rules’ at Yorkshire Housing (no pun intended!). One of them is work is something that you do, not somewhere that you go and another is that we think in careers, not jobs. Our flexible working environment and friendly culture means you can be yourself, take advantage of development opportunities and succeed – that’s just how we roll.

We’re inclusive and welcoming and offer a fun and open culture with a shared belief in making a positive difference to people’s lives – it really does feel like joining a big family!
