The Vacancy

SCP, an RSK Company is looking for a Graduate Highways Engineer to join their team on a full time, permanent basis. This role will be based in Chelmsford and will be office based. You will be joining a growing team, who cares greatly about the development, training and diversity of their growing workforce.

Key Responsibilities 

  • Infrastructure Designer supporting design team on designated projects. 
  • Undertake Infrastructure design under supervision using AutoCAD and other propriety design software.
  • Undertake negotiations with Local and Drainage Authority Engineers on design for adoptable works.
  • Understand and implement designs on private areas to comply with current Codes of Practice.
  • Understand and appreciate the role of the other members of the design team (Architect, M&E Engineer, Client etc).
  • Keep up to date with changes in legislation, codes of practice, design codes and proprietary suppliers.

Person Specification 

  • Civil Engineering Degree
  • On-going experience in drawing production in accordance with standard procedures.
  • Practical understanding of civil engineering principles.
  • Use of industry standard design software including PDS for highway design and ground modelling.
  • Use of PDS Flow and MicroDrainage to design and model new drainage systems including Sustainable drainage.
  • Develop project management skills using RSK procedures
