The brand-new role of Job Coach for SEND is ideal if you:
Want a rewarding role where you can also develop your communication and coordinating skills by playing a key role in managing the relationship between host businesses and the college
Can coach young people with SEND to develop both their general employability & adult skills as well as the specific skills needed for the role they are undertaking
Would enjoy seeing progression in your learners as they rotate through multiple positions within the companies to learn a huge variety of skills
Passionately believe that every young person, no matter their barriers to learning, should have the chance to build professional and personal success
You will be based within a host business, helping build and manage the Supported Internships programme, a structured work-based study programme for young people aged 16 - 24 with an Education and Health Care Plan.
The core element of a supported internship study programme is a substantial work placement. You’ll work closely with an expert Work-based Tutor to provide rounded support.
Day-to-day you will be responsible for:
Working closely with the host businesses to support the interns and ensure they are building the necessary skills for success in their positions
Engaging in regular meetings with the host business, the interns and the college to build great working relationships
Developing the programme and creating a quality internship that achieves positive outcomes for the amazing young people within it
Actively promote and embody the college’s FREDIE values of fairness, respect, equality, diversity and engagement

Be able to support the work-related activity each student is undertaking and maintain a dynamic coaching approach
Be able to assess each learner's needs and deliver tailored content
Have knowledge of the barriers to employment that young people with SEND face, with the passion and tenacity required to help break them down
Have knowledge and experience of working with young people with learning difficulties and disabilities
