As an area of growth, we have multiple brand new roles in an already amazing team of individuals committed to helping disadvantaged young people grow in confidence and realise their potential through learning.
This exciting new post is to support our growing Alternative provision designed to help 14-16-year old students with complex needs to access college programmes.
It’s vital that we ensure each young person has both a successful transition into college as well as the appropriate support once they start on programmes.
Reporting directly to the Academy Director for Pre-Technical and Skills for Living and Work, you will be crucial in ensuring those with complex needs are able to progress to the next level of study or work.
The role of Transition and Progression Coordinator is ideal if you:
Have a solution-focused mindset while understanding the challenges those with complex needs face on their pathway to adulthood and can work with a range of in-college staff to help them understand the needs of each learner
Passionately believe that learners from all backgrounds & situations, however complex, should have the right to an excellent level of education, and want to work with them to break down barriers and build success
Want a varied role where you will plan and organise a huge range of transition activities, including interviews, visits, and tasters while providing great communication with all parties surrounding the young person
Day-to-day you will be responsible for:
Helping young people with SEND needs to overcome barriers to their learning
Liaising closely with schools, the Local Authority and families to ensure a smooth transition into college
Planning and organising a range of transition activities
Enrolment, progression tracking, and support plan timetabling for each student
Working closely with the Head of Student Experience, Student Mentors, Personal Tutors and Safeguarding Practitioners to review progress and support
Working closely with the Academy Director to tackle issues around transition
Championing our commitment to putting students first
Promoting our values of fairness, respect & equality
After your first year with us, success would look like:
Built relationships & trust with high-needs students to help them get the most out of their learning journey
Staff have a strong understanding of each learner's needs and you have established yourself as an effective team member
Learners understand you are the first point of contact to assist with transition issues
Have effectively worked with the Academy Director as well as external persons
Built Strong working relationships and supported colleagues where possible
We're open-minded & welcome all applicants who believe they can succeed. Though ideally, you will:
Have deep experience and knowledge of working with young people who have challenging behaviours and face difficulties in accessing mainstream education
Are a great communicator and can work well with the full range of people involved with each learner both internally & externally
Be excited to develop your skills and further develop professionally
Be excited to bring fresh ideas to the table and help us constantly improve
