Maintenance Person - Cairnmartin Court Care Home

This is a Permanent, Full Time vacancy that will close in {x} days at {xx:xx} BST.

We are looking for a new maintenance person to join our team at Cairnmartin Court Care Home, a modern facility providing a stimulating and safe environment for residents with Dementia, that require nursing care.

We are looking for someone to deliver an efficient and effective maintenance service within a Healthcare Ireland unit to assist in the well-being, safety and comfort of residents.

Key Accountabilities

  • Maintain a well decorated, safe and comfortable environment throughout the unit, inline with quality standards, following work processes which comply with statutory regulations.
  • Ensure that Healthcare Ireland’s minimum standards are delivered in all unit areas in a timely and efficient manner, as part of a team.
  • Identify and report damage, faults and other related issues to Line Manager, (and then actions as agreed) to ensure that environmental conditions continue to meet quality standards and statutory regulations.
  • Liaise with local Contractors on site, as required, providing local knowledge and guidance, in order that planned and preventative maintenance schedules can be completed in a timely fashion.
  • When needed, deliver bloods, collect scripts and drive to Suppliers for maintenance essentials.
  • Adopt new services to the site that are already introduced in other areas of the group.
  • Ensure the site is well maintained by providing a service that is value for money

Knowledge and Skills        

  • Basic numeracy and literacy are minimum requirements for this role.   
  • A valid driving licence and use of a car for company business.

Experience                       

  • One year’s general work experience in a maintenance/ caretaking role (preferably within a nursing home environment).

Autonomy and Impact       

  • The Role Holder will undertake routine and regular tasks, but can alter the sequence of tasks on a daily basis. Work is regularly monitored. 

Intelligent Problem Solving          

  • Usually works within existing processes and procedures, however, some adaptive thinking will occasionally be required, in order to meet the needs of a particular operational occurrence. 

Responsibility of Staff         

  • Occasionally required to assist less experienced colleagues.

Budgets and equipment     

  • No budgetary or financial responsibility. Responsible for the proper use of various pieces of maintenance equipment.

Informatics                      

  • Responsible for ensuring confidentiality and identity of residents at Healthcare Ireland unit.

Communication and Interaction     

  • The Role Holder may need to respond to routine enquiries providing basic information. More complex issues will be referred to the Line Manager. 

Working Environment    

  • The Role Holder will be required to have physical stamina, but will generally work in a pleasant and stable working environment.

Special Features              

  • The Role Holder will be expected to undergo Manual Handling and COSHH training, as well as partake in Healthcare Ireland's mandatory training.  
  • Under direction, delivers an efficient and effective maintenance service within a Healthcare Ireland unit to assist in the well-being, safety and comfort of residents.
