In partnership with the Greater London Authority (GLA) we are looking for two Solutions and Project Officers (aged 18-24) to join Women in Sport for 12 months and help us change the sporting landscape for women and girls.

Roles in the sports sector are not representative of the diverse ethnicities, lived experiences, and socioeconomic backgrounds of young people we have across London, so we encourage young people from all backgrounds, and particularly those underrepresented in sport, to apply.

Do you share our vision that no one should be excluded from the joy, fulfilment and lifelong benefits of sport?  Are you passionate about improving the lives of girls and women through sport?

Women in Sport is going through an exciting period as it continues its leading-edge research and pilot projects, grows in profile and demonstrates thought leadership. The Solutions and Projects Officer(s) is a newly created internship opportunity designed to contribute to the partnership work the charity undertakes in the sports sector.

We are looking for two energetic, enthusiastic, and organised individuals, who can support delivery of projects ranging from events to showcase our 40-year history to communications initiatives, and partnership work with sports.  This is all to maximise the legacy of change we are creating.

We hope you may have some work experience in any capacity; however we are more interested in your motivations, behaviours and aspirations.  We are looking for someone fired up to change the sporting world for women and girls.

Women in Sport is committed to a working culture where everyone can be authentic and true to themselves. We value the quality and diversity of thought that is only possible from a team made up of individuals from a broad range of backgrounds, who can each bring their different experiences and perspectives. For this reason, we encourage applications from people of all ages, male allies as well as women, people from different ethnic, cultural, religious and socio-economic backgrounds, people with disabilities and irrespective of sexual orientation.

Main responsibilities are to:

  • Support Women in Sport’s strategic project/event management

  • Ensure learnings from projects are embedded

  • Coordinating communications with colleagues and external partners

Please see the job description for full list of responsibilities and the criteria required for this role.

Selection Process

Please note that we initially longlist candidates for an informal telephone call before shortlisting for face-to-face interview.

Potential Longlisting calls:  18th January 2024

Our charity believes it is wrong for girls and women to be excluded from the joy, fulfilment and lifelong benefits of sport. Sport can transform lives, but due to gender stereotypes, institutional bias and gendered economic and health inequalities far too many women and girls are missing out.

Women in Sport has been working since 1984 to change this. We know that sport can give girls and women resilience, courage, self-belief and a sense of belonging through which they can learn vital life skills such as leadership and teamwork. That’s why our purpose is to create lasting positive change for women and girls in sport and society.
