We are seeking a dynamic and visionary individual to join as our first Palliative & End of Life Care Transformation Lead (22 month FTC), reporting to the Bedfordshire, Luton and Milton Keynes (BLMK) ICB (Integrated Care Board).

As the PEoLC Transformation Lead, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the strategic design and direction of palliative and end of life care services across the BLMK Integrated Care System (ICS). Working collaboratively with key ICS and regional partners from both statutory and non-statutory sectors, your mission is to enhance patient outcomes and the sustainability of PEoLC

What you’ll do

  • Lead the development of a shared vision and clarity of purpose within the system, aligning with both national and local PEoLC priorities
  • Develop relationships with key stakeholders, including the Regional PEoLC Strategic Clinical Network (SCN), ICS team, Macmillan Transformation Lead within the East of England, and others
  • Collaborate with providers, voluntary/community or social enterprise (VCSE) representatives, people with lived experience, local authorities, pharmacy representation, and BCYP ICB leads
  • Provide strategic leadership and support to both statutory and non-statutory organisations, ensuring enhanced coordination of care across the system
  • Support the delivery of ICS priorities, in harmony with national PEoLC goals, the NHS Long Term Plan, and the Ambitions for Palliative and End of Life Care
  • Take a leadership role in developing a platform supporting commissioners, facilitating joint contracting for care redesign and performance improvement initiatives
  • Provide an innovative, ambitious, and solution-focused approach to unblocking barriers, leading the transformation of services to address inequalities in care provision
  • Assist Macmillan in gaining greater insight into present and future PEoLC needs, ensuring alignment with partnership teams and their priorities
  • Maintain knowledge of emerging policies to inform strategy discussions for the ICB PEoLC program
  • Draft reports summarising status on issues and providing progress reports for Macmillan, ICB Programme Board, and regional clinical network
  • Driving project outcomes by managing stakeholders and maintaining a high standard of work

What you need to do it

  • Health care professional or manager with health care experience
  • Educated to Masters level or equivalent level of experience working at a senior level
  • Extensive knowledge of PEoLC Policy, NHS Long Term Plan and the PEoLC Ambitions
  • Project management qualification highly desirable PRINCE 2, Agile or experience in managing successful programmes
  • Experience of cross organisational or system wide transformation  
  • Ability to negotiate on difficult and controversial issues including contracting, performance and change
