Payroll Administrator

This is a Permanent, Full Time vacancy that will close in {x} days at {xx:xx} BST.

Working as part of the HR and Payroll Service Centre, you will provide payroll advice and support to managers, clients, schools and employees in accordance with legislation and agreed policies, procedures and SLAs, this will include working to strict processing deadlines on starters, amendments, absence, leavers, Teachers and Local Government pensions administration.

Key tasks and responsibilities:

  • To process payroll data received from our clients, relating to pay changes, absence, starters, leavers, pay adjustments
  • To process any changes to payroll that may arise out of queries, e.g. overpayments, underpayments and backdated pay changes
  • To deliver the required payroll outputs against the payroll calendar and checklists
  • Manage & prioritise own payroll delegated work
  • To meet tight deadlines regarding deadline dates
  • Ensure that all targets for service delivery are met and where possible exceeded
  • To check data for self and colleagues work
  • To liaise closely with other parts of the business, particularly implementation, payroll support team & Senior Payroll Officers
  • Adherence and maintenance of procedure manuals & checklists
  • Building pay historical breakdowns to report on pay queries
  • Adhere to Liberata’s Health & Safety and Environmental policies and procedures and all relevant statutory requirements
  • To complete 100% of payroll data received from the client on a daily and monthly basis
  • 100% of inputs and outputs processed for the payroll calendar and deadlines.
  • All work to be completed within the specified deadlines
  • Accuracy to be maintained for input of own work and that checked for others, with particular focus on prevention of under and overpayments.
  • To keep complaints to a minimum.
  • Compliance with internal and external audits, GDPR and Government Data Security.
  • Undertake training required to deliver the required payroll objectives and assist in training of other staff to ensure multi skills within the team.
  • Delivery of client Service Level Agreement
  • Follow payroll processes within monthly timetable to ensure the payroll is produced accurately and on time
  • Escalate any issues/queries that you have via the correct channels
  • To work as part of a Team, to consider your actions and how they impact the Client and your colleagues and be an excellent Team Player
  • To be proactive, show flexibility, be supportive of changes, willing to take on new things, hold a positive attitude
  • Support peers, colleagues, Team Leader and clients
  • Share skills and knowledge to ensure no dependency for any part of the payroll process on any one individual
  • To communicate effectively using the preferred methods within the team (Teams)
  • To provide regular daily updates to Team Leader & Senior Administrator (tasks, workloads, availability to assist others in the team, any assistance required)
  • Review of existing processes and propose and deliver productivity and quality improvement

Essential Skills and Attributes:

  • Able to calculate and understand occupational and statutory sick, parental pay and leave
  • Previous experience in a similar role
  • Ability to deal with large number of client queries over the telephone & via email promptly and effectively
  • Good knowledge of pension schemes.
  • Solid all-round payroll knowledge with experience of high volume payrolls.
  • Must be highly organised and be able multitask as working on multiple tasks through-out the month.
  • ITrent system knowledge preferable but not essential
