The Home

Ardmaine Care Home is warm and loving, located near the centre of the city of Newry. It has two units - General Nursing and Dementia Nursing. Ardmaine Care Home provides care for older people as well as those with Dementia, Alzheimers, Parkinsons, Cancer and End of Life Care, Respite, Stroke, Epilepsy, Visual Impairment and Challenging Behaviours.

The Role

Ardmaine Care Home currently require female Care Assistants that are able to work night shift on a permanent basis, due to occupational requirement.

To provide high-quality person-centred care to the residents of the Home, supporting with their everyday needs and contributing to their enjoyment of life.

Main Responsibilities

  • Assist qualified staff with care plans, tasks and activities to support the wellbeing, dignity and treatment of residents.
  • Assist residents with eating, drinking, washing, dressing and going to the toilet.
  • Assess and observe the emotional and physical wellbeing of residents, recognising any changes and reporting as necessary in a timely manner.
  • Maintain accurate records, communicating effectively with residents and their families.
  • Complies with relevant regulatory and statutory requirements.

You will need:

  • Right to work in the UK.
  • Previous experience in Health and Social Care preferred, although not essential as full training will be provided.
  • Educated to NVQ 2 level is desirable but not essential.
  • Ability to work independently and part of a team.
  • A good standard of written and oral English
  • A compassionate, non-judgemental approach to others.
  • Excellent communication skills with the compassion required to deliver high-quality care to our residents.
  • Respectful to not only residents but the values and beliefs of other team members.
