About the role:
Gentoo is investing in and expanding its Property Maintenance Team and has new opportunities for qualified Electricians to join the Group. Our tenants are at the heart of what we do at Gentoo, therefore, providing excellent customer service is paramount in this role. You will need to be a people person with the ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of teams, colleagues, and customers within Gentoo to ensure we deliver excellent customer service every time.
Your working week:
We offer an average working week of 36 hours, working to either 4pm or 4.30pm and every second Friday our Electricians finish the week at 12.30pm.
As an Electrician at Gentoo, you would carry out the following tasks across our housing stock in Sunderland:
• Electrical day-to-day repairs on tenant’s homes
• Electrical installations
• Testing in Gentoo’s tenanted and void homes, as required by the Group and in accordance with relevant specifications, standards, and Regulatory bodies.
• Non-domestic electrical testing.
• Non-domestic electrical repairs.
• Gentoo operates a responsive Emergency out of hours service, which you may be required to work on a rota basis as and when required, with additional payment as appropriate.
In the last year, our team completed:
• 5750 DEICR (Domestic Electrical testing)
• Circa 12500 Responsive Electrical Repairs jobs completed
• Circa 2500 Void Electrical Testing
• Specialist electrical works, including Fire alarms, Emergency Lights, Door Entry, Non-domestic testing and intruder alarms.
You will be required to work with minimum supervision both independently and as part of a wider team. You will have the opportunity to work with a supportive and highly experienced team, where you will be offered training opportunities and continuous professional development through monthly team meetings, sharing best practice, and bi-monthly technical talks. We also offer opportunities to progress within Gentoo.
What we are looking for:
What we require from you:
• A full clean UK Driving License
• It’s essential you are conversant and competent to carry out works in accordance with the current Edition of the IET Wiring Regulations/BS7671 plus all ongoing revisions thereto.
• To be able to demonstrate you have completed a NVQ Level 3 in an electrical discipline.
• To have completed an AM2 practical trade test Qualification
• It is desirable to have served a recognised (Indentured) Electrical apprenticeship with City & Guilds in electrical installation or equivalent.
• It is also desirable to hold City and Guilds 2391 or equivalent – Inspection and Testing Certificate.
• A basic DBS check, paid for by Gentoo
