Are you devoted to nurturing a deep appreciation for language and literature, and honing critical thinking skills in young learners? Become part of our enthusiastic team at The Grammar School at Leeds and motivate students to thrive in the realm of English, where creativity meets comprehension and expression!

We are in search of a dedicated classroom teacher with a passion for teaching English across all levels. The successful candidate will be responsible for planning and delivering engaging lessons that challenge and inspire students. Your role will involve fostering a positive learning environment, building students' confidence, and maintaining strong working relationships with colleagues, pupils and parents.

The English department is high performing and prides itself on excellent, innovative teaching and consistently impressive examination results at both GCSE and A level.

Both English language and literature are studied by all students throughout KS3 and KS4 with students achieving more than 16% of English language and 21% of English literature grades at 9. We study Eduqas for both GCSE courses and our KS3 curriculum is structured to embed the skills required at GCSE all the way from year 7, whilst enabling teachers to choose from a range of texts. We offer A levels in both English language and English literature, following the AQA and OCR courses respectively. Experience of teaching the AQA A level English language course would be an advantage.

The department supports students through clinics and targeted intervention as well as giving multiple opportunities for enrichment. Pupils taking English at A level have the option of extension classes as well as lunchtime lessons offered for those who wish to continue their studies of English at university.
