RSK Land Development and Engineering (LDE) Ltd, part of the RSK Group are looking for a Graduate Hydrologist to join the team. The role would be based in either Wigan, Coventry or Hemel Hempstead. This is a full-time, permanent position. 

RSK LDE Ltd was formed in 2003 after a number of specialist design engineers joined RSK in order to strengthen its existing in-house capabilities.  It now has a highly experienced team made up of professional civil and structural engineering staff with many years experience in the assessment, design and construction of major development projects.

Role and Responsibilities:

To support and strengthen RSK Land & Development Engineering Ltd (LDE) in hydrology and flood risk including undertaking Due Diligence and Planning Phase Flood Risk Assessments, concept and detail drainage designs, Environmental Impact Assessment chapters on hydrology and sustainable engineering solutions to provide water quality improvements.

  • Assisting with the development of Flood Risk Assessment, EIA and outline drainage assessment reports.
  • Understand role within hydrology team for undertaking required works.
  • Maintain and develop technical capability through Continuing Professional Development (CPD), including mentoring and guiding junior staff.
  • Keep up to date with changes in legislation, best practice and relevant polices
  • Understand the required programme, co-ordination, communication and LDE involvement within project to ensure satisfactory delivery of a project.
  • Maintain and develop technical or management capability through CPD, attending internal and external seminars regularly.
  • Attend training seminars when relevant and present key points to colleagues.
  • Assist and develop skills to undertake calculations and designs using an efficient and rationalised process to the latest design standards.
  • Assist in the issue of project documents.
  • Be aware of project deadlines and allocated time to work items.

 

Qualifications, Key Skills and Experience

  • Hold a honours degree in geography, environmental science or civil engineering (or similar).
  • Master’s qualifications in hydrology or flood risk management are preferred, but not essential.
  • Have an interest in or already a Graduate member or  working towards full membership of relevant Institute (CIWEM)
  • Are happy to be challenged by site visits, client and consultee liaison, technical interpretation and reporting of data.
  • Have an awareness of good health and safety practices
  • Ability to organise and prioritise work effectively.
  • Ability to work as part of a team and on own initiative.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with the design team and external clients, both verbally and in writing.
  • Competent in the use of Excel, Word and Power Point.
  • Hold a full driving license.
