Alsford Timber and Builder’s Merchants are looking for an Ecommerce Executive to join our team. This position will work within the Marketing & Web team to support the execution of the overall website strategy. This is a fantastic opportunity to make a measurable impact, and be the cornerstone of driving online sales by presenting an accurate and engaging website for our customers.

The successful candidate must have some experience working within an Ecommerce business and ideally be familiar with Magento.

You will be responsible for the day-to-day actions on our e-commerce site, including managing the flow of new products onto the site, improving product accuracy of existing products, implementing a test-and-learn approach to improving conversion rates, and supporting our overall digital and marketing strategy through the creation of landing pages and relevant actions.

The Role

What you’ll do day to day:

  • Create and keep updated our products, including writing product descriptions.
  • Source, resize, and upload product imagery.
  • Review and update category and information pages to ensure they are engaging, promote good relations with our customers and drive sales.
  • Source and upload relevant video links, product PDFs, and supplier brochures.
  • Collaborate with our Commercial team to plan and execute exclusive website offers.
  • Proactively update the website with promotional banners, and highlight new products, services, etc.
  • Monitor incoming orders, ensuring all transactions are correctly received by our internal systems, and resolving queries as required.
  • Provide customer service support to our online customers via email and live chat.
  • Provide support to our retail branches for any queries relating to online orders for delivery or collection.
  • In collaboration with the Marketing Manager and our digital partners, develop and implement strategies to drive traffic and increase conversion rates
  • Proactively utilise functions such as abandoned baskets, segmentation, coupon codes, landing pages, etc, to engage with customers and drive sales.
  • Contribute to SEO activity through content writing, meta, appropriate use of H1, etc.
  • Work closely with our development partner for current and future on-page and backend maintenance and development.
  • Maintain a good understanding of emerging technical developments and trends, to quickly identify which we can best use to meet our goals.
  • Report on all website KPIs

About You

Essential Experience:

  • 2+ years of hands-on experience in an e-commerce environment
  • Excellent written & spoken English
  • Experience with Magento preferred
  • Experience with Google Analytics
  • Working knowledge of SEO

A mix of other skills & traits that may help you excel in this role:

  • Conversion rate optimisation experience
  • Working knowledge of Google Tag Manager
  • A proactive and sales-focused nature

Location

This is a full-time position, based out of our Tonbridge office. Currently, the role is hybrid, with the flexibility to work remotely 2 days a week, with 3 days office based.
