This is a {Advertised Permanent / Temporary}, {Advertised Full Time / Part Time} vacancy that will close in {x} days at {xx:xx} BST.

We are now looking to recruit a Quantity Surveyor to work full time.  This role will be based out of Chesterfield or Northfleet  with the option to work flexibly when and where appropriate. This is a maternity cover, however there is a possibility that the role will be made permanent. 

The role will report directly to the Contracts Director, specifically liaising with staff regarding all aspects of contract, commercial and project management in the delivery of projects.

Responsibilities:

  • A national role to support all parts of the CAN businesses in contractual and commercial matters and to ensure that all projects attain their full commercial potential.
  • Commercial responsibility for the day-to-day performance and governance of the key and high-profile projects and clients within the business
  • Maintain Business and Projects Risk registers for reporting to the board.
  • Assist in Developing and enhancing the commercial and project management teams and all associated commercial processes.
  • Maximise monthly valuations and variation valuations, ensure timely submission and manage assessment and approval processes.
  • Working with CAN project teams to provide and deliver projects regarding the contractual and commercial aspects of specialist contracting project work.
  • Client facing – foster & maintain strong relationships with all clients.
  • Produce accurate project cost/value reports and forecast alongside project managers.

Person specification:

  • Minimum of 2 years of QS experience.
  • Familiar with standard forms of contract specifically JCT and NEC.
  • The ability to negotiate with and convince colleagues clients, and other stakeholders as appropriate. 
  • Be a confident and reliable contributor to any team, able to develop a team and actively contribute to development of people throughout the whole business. 
  • Be decisive, be a good negotiator and always act with integrity.

CAN Engineering is a UK-based geotechnical engineering and access contractor. We undertake large-scale ground stabilisation and specialist access projects.
