The Vacancy
RSK Ordnance Management (RSK-OM) part of RSK Group, offers services within the bomb disposal and unexploded ordnance (UXO) sector, together with assessments of impacts relating to subsequent and possible ground and environmental contamination risks.
We are now hiring for an EOD Engineer/SHEQ Coordinator in Royston, Hertfordshire to work on a hybrid basis combining both office and site working.
SHEQ JOB DUTIES:
Collaborating with designated personnel who form the Quality Assurance (QA) team to assess problems and brainstorm solutions.
Checking that equipment involved in the service process are of suitable quality.
Inspecting equipment and employees to make sure the processes run smoothly.
Meeting project deadlines
Writing and reviewing testing plans
Assessing whether employees need training.
Suggesting improvements to company infrastructure and processes to prevent future mistakes.
Communicating with the SHEQ team at RSK HQ about existing defects and how to prevent them.
Communicating with other departments such as project management and technical to coordinate scheduling for QA testing.
Reporting discovered defects to all relevant departments for correction.
Conforming to regulations and international standards when it comes to quality assurance.
EOD RESPONSIBILITIES:
Function as the main technical adviser on a construction site for subcontractors, craftspeople, and operatives.
Potentially set out, and direct other members of the workforce.
Check plans and drawings for accuracy to ensure safety procedures are followed.
Ensure that all equipment used, and work procedures performed are in accordance with the UXO RAMS and RSK SHEQ guidance.
Manage, monitor, and interpret the design documents supplied by the client or architect (intrusive survey drawings).
Consult with any consultants, subcontractors, supervisors, planners, quantity surveyors and the general workforce involved in the project with matters regarding UXO.
Consult with the local authority (where appropriate to the project) to ensure compliance with safety if/once an item of UXO is found.
Conduct day-to-day management of the site, including supervising and monitoring the site labour force and the work of any subcontractors that work under the UXO RAMS - this is site-specific and may not be the case on all projects.
Plan the work and efficiently organise the plant and site facilities to meet agreed deadlines.
Prepare reports as required.
Resolve any unexpected technical difficulties and other problems that may arise.
Person Specification:
EOD Qualifications (military or Civilian) and experience.
CSCS Card.
Other specialist skill/qualification cards (PTS, LU, Power Station, Thames Water, etc).
Communication skills, written and oral, with the ability to consult effectively with a range of other professionals, such as construction managers, quantity surveyors, subcontractors, architects, designers, other engineers.
Organisation skills and a methodical approach to work.
Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
Knowledge of relevant building and health and safety legislation.
Accuracy and diligence
Demonstrable experience in a similar role, ideally in an EOD/UXO business
Experience of working remotely within the EOD environment
3 years quality and training experience
Previous experience delivering training and accreditation paperwork.
Reporting and Analytics
Experience working with Execs, Senior Managers, Team Leaders + Advisors
Working with Microsoft tools, including but not limited to Microsoft Teams/Office
