RSK Ordnance Management (RSK-OM) part of RSK Group, offers services within the bomb disposal and unexploded ordnance (UXO) sector, together with assessments of impacts relating to subsequent and possible ground and environmental contamination risks.

RSK-OM supports RSK businesses and additional clients with services including bomb disposal, UXO and ordnance management, risk assessments, ground investigation, ground contamination remediation and environmental impact mitigation. It also supports and contributes to the vital area of UXO research and investigation, both on land and in marine environments. 

We are now hiring for a Researcher in Royston, Hertfordshire to work on a hybrid basis combining both office and home working. 

You will be responsible for delivering high profile research work, and supporting colleagues within the organisation to do the same.  The role will involve providing effective documents on a range of programmes and projects across a wide variety of UXO and legacy ordnance related projects, on land and in the marine environment.

 

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Contribute to research, development of programmes and projects across the breadth of RSK-OM’s priorities – ensuring that work is delivered to time and quality expectations, within budget, and with appropriate measures of its impact.
  •  Develop and maintain effective relationships and networks with key stakeholders involved in relevant policy, delivery, and research – including national and local government, other national/local agencies, service providers, and other research centres.
  •  Keep up to date with key developments in policy, research and practice on learning, skills and employment, and on innovations in research and evaluation methods and tools.
  • Proactively provide advice, support, and guidance to colleagues across RSK-OM in order to improve the quality and impact of our research, working closely with Heads within the organisation and with the Senior Management.
  • Contribute to the personal and professional development of the RSK-OM research team.
  • Work with management to communicate and promote our work and to identify opportunities for research and evidence to influence policy and practice across RSK Group activities.
  • Maintain an understanding of competitors and other agencies offering similar reports and feed into management information systems.
  • Participate in visits to records offices across the UK, including National Archives, to support the collection of pertinent information.
  • Contribute a positive, open, and collaborative working style to the organisation.

 

Person Specification: 

  • Good understanding of the policy and delivery context for the UXO sector - Desirable 
  • Good experience of building relationships with key business partners and decision makers.
  • Willing to participate in other areas of the business, with management guidance to get involved in reports, bid and tenders, which may include some technical writing.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to equality of opportunity and travel and occasional overnight stays will be required.
