Junior Web Developer

This is a Permanent, Full Time vacancy that will close in {x} days at {xx:xx} BST.

We are seeking to recruit a Junior Web Developer who will be based from home but must be able to travel occasionally (monthly) to Bromley in London.  You will need experience in the design, creation and maintenance of websites across multiple platforms.

Key tasks and responsibilities:

The most important duties and responsibilities of the Web Developer will include:

  • Writing efficient code using best practice for software development
  • Creating websites and pages using PHP/Symfony, HTML and CSS
  • Working within the BK (Bromley Knowledge) team to create a website that matches the visual design intent and needs of Bromley Council
  • Communicating with the BK team and services areas within Bromley Council to gather and refine requirements and specifications for content development within agreed-upon timelines
  • Researching a variety of software programs and websites to further develop the website
  • Creating and maintaining the documentation for software used
  • Improving and enhancing websites after they have been created
  • Developing contingency plans in the event of websites going down
  • Support for projects associated to the website, analyse, design and develop UAT testing processes
  • Provide support to maintaining the website and any associated issues
  • Provide recommendations for continuous improvement of the website

Responsibilities to include:

  • Web Development and Design
  • CMS coding (Jadu Platform)
  • Accessibility review

Essential Skills and Attributes:

  • PHP/Symfony

  • Database technology (SQL Server or MySQL)
  • JavaScript
