Ocean Housing has an exciting opportunity within their Commissioning Team for a full time, permanent Development Manager.

The role will work with the Head of Commissioning to develop and implement the group's strategy for residential development in line with  business plans in terms of turnover, profitability and programme requirement. You will provide effective development management of Ocean Housing’s development programme including section 106, own build and regeneration schemes from land acquisition through to handover and throughout the defect period. 

Specific responsibilities include:

  • Ensure all development projects are administered strictly in accordance with Group procedures, Board approvals, financial regulations and contract and funding requirements
  • Identify and appraise development opportunities for affordable housing which match Ocean Housing’s aspirations and business plan
  • Progress development deals with developers, ensuring internal colleagues are consulted from inception through to scheme completion
  • Ensure all necessary information is provided to relevant colleagues in a timely manner to confirm items such as service charges, rents, handover dates, equipment, and specification
  • Appoint and managing all consultants required to acquire and manage development schemes.

You will hold a HND or equivalent level 5 qualification and will have knowledge and experience of significant parts of the development process from acquisition through to sales. You will have a proven track record of successful Housing Association development and have knowledge and experience of generating new business and customer relationship management. It would be desirable but not essential that you have good knowledge of central and local government housing strategies and policies along with understanding of new build construction processes.

You will have excellent interpersonal and communication skills together with a high level of emotional intelligence and self awareness. You will take ownership of finding practical ways to overcome barriers and accept and tackle demanding goals with enthusiasm. You should be able to demonstrate financial and commercial awareness and you should have good project and programme management skills.
