This is a permanent, full-time vacancy that will close in {x} days at {xx:xx} BST.

Since 2011, we have been coordinating & delivering Safe2Speak, the specialist domestic abuse service in St Helens.  Safe2Speak are a team of trained domestic abuse advisers, working in partnership with a range of agencies to safeguard and protect victims of domestic abuse. The team is made up of Independent Domestic Violence Advisers (IDVA’s), Domestic Abuse Outreach Workers, a Risk Identification Officer and trained helpline and refuge accommodation-based staff including Refuge Coordinators and Key Workers.  The service is delivered by Torus, but service users do not need to be a tenant of Torus to access the services.  Safe2Speak works to support anyone that is affected by domestic abuse, regardless of their gender, race, religion, beliefs or sexual orientation. We provide a free service that is confidential, supportive, informative and non-judgemental.

The team offer one to one advice to victims, offering emotional, practical and safety support.

This is an important role in which you will:

  • Provide a high-quality professional service to people and families often with complex needs who have been assessed at high risk of domestic abuse.
  • Represent clients at the Multi Agency Risk Assessment Conference (MARAC)
  • Provide specialist knowledge and advice to other team members, key partners and clients.
  • Keep up to date with legislative changes and best practice regarding domestic abuse.
  • Share own knowledge, skills and professional updates, to support up-skilling and development within internal and external teams.
  • Raise awareness of domestic abuse and its effects on people and families.

To be successful in this role you will:

  • Experience of working and engaging with people and families with complex needs and or challenging behaviour suffering domestic abuse
  • Knowledge of domestic abuse legislation and best practice
  • Track record of managing a caseload, including support planning, risk assessing and multi-agency working.
  • Experience of crisis management, risk minimisation and of making decisions in difficult situations
  • Evidence of managing personal resilience when dealing with difficult situations and identifying mechanisms to deal with these.
  • Knowledge and experience of Safeguarding Practices and Procedures
  • Track record of building a rapport with clients whilst maintaining professional boundaries
