Whitgift is a leading independent day and boarding school for boys, with approximately 1550 pupils including over one hundred boarding pupils and flexi-boarding pupils.  It is set in an attractive 48-acre parkland site in South Croydon enjoying excellent links to London, Surrey and the south coast.

Under the general direction of the Director of Estates & Facilities and the day-to-day line management of the Deputy Director of Estates & Facilities to ensure the maintenance and development of the School’s facilities, primarily through the provision of heating and plumbing services, in order to provide a first-class educational environment. 

The Heating & Plumbing Engineer is responsible for the effective control and management of the School’s heating and plumbing systems as well as swimming pool plant. The role by its nature requires an element of independence, initiative and judgement. The duties of the Heating & Plumbing Engineer are at the discretion of the Deputy Director of Estates & Facilities, in line with those set out below and including such additional related tasks as the Director of Estates & Facilities may from time to time determine.
