The Vacancy
Whitgift is a leading independent day and boarding school for boys, with approximately 1550 pupils including over one hundred boarding pupils and flexi-boarding pupils. It is set in an attractive 48-acre parkland site in South Croydon enjoying excellent links to London, Surrey and the south coast.

Whitgift 2025 was created as a result of the input and imagination of staff and students and the next few years will represent an exciting time of evolution for the school, both in terms of our site development plan and the educational partnerships we are embarking on.
We are seeking to appoint a part-time technician to support the work and safety of the Design, Technology and Engineering Department. We are a team of 6 teachers and 2 technicians. The technician plays a pivotal role in ensuring all equipment, materials and resources are ready for lessons and provides support to teachers and students. The role is varied and an ability to be proactive and prioritise tasks is important. Their main responsibilities are:
The ideal applicant will possess experience of an engineering or practical design/ manufacturing workplace. Proactive problem solving and team work along with practical or digital proficiency are desired.
The position is available from May 2024 and is offered as a permanent, part-time (0.6 FTE), term-time only contract. The salary range for this post will be Point 20 - 23 on the John Whitgift Foundation Support Staff Pay Scale (£30,893 - £33,782 per annum full-time equivalent, which equates to £14,829 - £16,215 per annum pro rata, term time, 0.6 FTE) dependant on qualifications and relevant experience.
