Job Purpose

 

The Transport Manager will lead the transport operations at Navenby Feed Mill site and will have day to day accountability for efficient and effective use of own and where necessary, subcontracted transport assets, that enables the team to meet the required service and cost performance targets. 

 

The Transport Manager will be responsible for the management and development of the relationship with GB based Third Party transport provider(s) and will have direct responsibility for the Drivers and Transport Planners.

 

The shift pattern is Monday to Friday, however due to the business being a 24/7 operation, flexibility is required. 

 

Knowledge, Skills and Experience

Essential

  • 10 years + experience including working within a FMCG manufacturing or logistics business with budgetary responsibility
  • Experience in delivering continuous improvement and change initiatives.
  • Change orientated, with a proven ability to influence and inspire change at all levels.
  • Experience with dealing with 3PL / 4PL logistics providers.
  • Knowledge of transportation, logistics, warehousing, and distribution best practice.
  • Ability to lead, develop and motivate a team
  • A solid grasp of fleet H&S / environmental legislation, in a manufacturing/logistics operation
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
  • Experienced in the use of IT systems especially Microsoft packages.
  • Experienced in driving logistical performance through KPI's

 

Desirable 

  • Current Certificate of Professional Competence (CPC) in UK Road Transport Operations and knowledge of DVSA regulations.
  • Current CPC in International Road Transport Operations.
  • Customer facing experience and proactive resolution of issues
  • Experience of developing procedures, policies and audits.
  • Experience in managing animal feed transport operations.
  • Knowledge of legislation around transporting agricultural product.
  • Experience in use of and interrogation of vehicle Telematics systems and associated data.
  • IOSH H&S certificate.
