Associate Director - Building Surveyor

Position Overview:

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Building Surveyor to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing the maintenance, refurbishment, and development of our retail parks and shopping centres. This role requires a proactive individual with excellent technical knowledge and strong project management skills. This is an exciting time to join the team at the start of a major investment programme with projects ranging in scale of up to £7M committed in the next 12 months.

 

Key Responsibilities:

Working with external consultants where necessary you will undertake a wide range of activities including:

  • Preparation and implementation of PPM schedules
  • Input to insurance renewal / RCA process
  • Contract administration
  • Input to development and design process
  • Ensuring projects are delivered in a cost effective and timely manner.
  • Monitor and manage budgets for maintenance and refurbishment projects.
  • Maintain accurate records of inspections, reports, and project documentation.
  • Processing licences to alter
  • Reviewing tenant fit out proposals and supervising works
  • Dilapidations
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and building codes including administration of all documents for drainage, Asbestos, Fire, electrical test, lightning conductors, hydrants, sprinkler tanks to ensure all properties comply with statutory legislation.
  • Undertake final inspection of tenants works to ensure all statutory undertakings are complete, certification received and acceptable.
  • Liaise with contractors, architects, and other stakeholders to ensure project specifications are met
  • Provide technical advice and support to the property management team
  • Acting as necessary as the Health & Safety coordinator for works and assessing RAMS to ensure all works are safely managed and completed. Instructing on the appointment of the CDM principle designer role where necessary

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Building Surveying, Construction Management, or equivalent of in a related field
  • Ideally professional membership with RICS (Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors) or equivalent
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in building surveying, preferably within the retail property sector
  • Strong knowledge of building regulations, health and safety standards, and construction practices
  • Excellent project management and organizational skills
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Proficiency in using surveying and project management software
