This is a Permanent, Full Time vacancy that will close in {x} days at {xx:xx} BST.

The Security Operations Manager role exists to manage the day-to-day performance of security processing and oversight of the security perimeter. Driving continuous improvement to ensure that the airport is delivering seamless end to end customer service; for all users of the airport and deliver operational excellence in doing so.

This role also oversees all security campus-wide for the airport and is accountable for maintaining a safe operational environment.

 

Main Tasks and Responsibilities:

  • Accountable for ensuring the Security of the site is maintained and the integrity of the Critical Part is not jeopardised
  • Accountable for the performance of Ground Security Operatives across the airport including their standards (dress, appearance, behaviour, values) and delivery (customer)
  • Accountable for customer experience within security, ensuring all our processes align and support customers whilst maintaining compliance
  • Work with the Training & Compliance Team to ensure that the department is fully compliant and in line with the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) and Department for Transport (DfT) regulations
  • Responsible for monitoring staff performance ensuring compliance with all Department for Transport regulations including EU, DfT and also HSE regulations
  • Assist / Drive cultural change within the business, with the aim of improving compliance, productivity, customer experience and reducing costs
  • Develop and Improve performance of team members.
  • Provide an environment where they can maximise their contribution to the achievement of business targets
  • Assist in delivering the departmental business plan and strategy plan
  • Responsible for management of the Security Reporting System
  • Accountable for relevant Security Manuals, Procedures, Instructions, Risk Assessments and Business Continuity Plans are relevant and updated when required.
  • Play a key role in leading Security Campaigns and Security Culture across the Airport.
  • Liaise with relevant colleagues within the Operations team to ensure smooth service through security processing.
  • Ensure that all instructions and notices, LCY and Regulatory, are complied with and that they are in operation by all team members In the event of any potential security threat, carry out risk assessments and actions as required.
  • Ensure staff are regularly communicated to on airport updates, changes to procedures and general comms.
  • Play a security focused role during an Emergency/Incident by following the Airports Crisis Response Plan and coordinating staff where appropriate.
  • Key point of contact for DfT Inspections and external covert testers.
  • Accountable to ensure completion of all required daily paperwork in the Security Operation
  • Handle and resolve Security related queries and complaints within reasonable timeframes in a professional and efficient manner
  • Ensure that the security area maintained in a clean and tidy manner and is safe for daily operational readiness to receive customers
  • Ensuring that all actions identified from health and safety inspections, risk assessments/accidents are recognised and addressed as required
  • Ensure that any VIP movements through the Terminal are actioned in an effective manner, whilst maintaining reputational integrity
  • Accountable for all Ground Security Operatives and Team Leaders, managing, appraising and motivating the team
  • Be involved with the recruitment and selection of new team members Identify further development and training needs of team members
  • Initiate disciplinary action and attend and provide input at investigation meetings/disciplinary meetings.
  • Respond to grievances, applying all procedures fairly and consistently in order to contribute to the effective management of human resources and employee relations.
  • Ensuring the timely conduct of return-to-work interviews and attendance management.

  • Accountable for general workplace security, compliance with rules and company guidelines, communication and the implementation of corporate security policy, arrangements, and procedures. High level of confidentiality is required.

 

Health and Safety Responsibilities:

  • Ensure health and safety legislative requirements are met such as DSE assessment and health and safety awareness meeting all corporate HSE Targets.
  • Ensure any hazards or unsafe acts are reported through the Centrik reporting system. Ensure the value of staying Safe and Well is adhered to by all team members.

 

Key Competencies:

  • Knowledge of Customer Operations/CAA/DfT regulation (Essential)
  • Knowledge of Quality Management System
  • Experience and knowledge gained in a role with direct accountability for delivering customer excellence
  • Experience in developing and delivering a customer strategy
  • Good problem-solving ability and good analytical skills with the ability to translate changing plans and processes into working instructions for your team.
  • Experience of working in a pressurised and complex environment.
  • Ability to multitask, dealing with multiple issues and instructions at once and remain calm under this pressure in any situation.
  • Experience of working with complex data to draw insight.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to multitask.
  • To complete any other tasks and duties as reasonably requested by the Head of Security or Airport Management Teams
  • High level of confidentiality is essential
  • Where a manager has an operational responsibility for the organisation or control of any Airport undertaking or activity, he/she also carries the responsibility for doing all within his/her authority to ensure security is maintained during the conduct of that undertaking or activity.
  • Cleared to CTC level (Desirable)

 

Qualifications:

Education & Training

  • Educated to degree level or equivalent experience – Customer Management, Service Delivery (Essential)
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.

Specialist Skills & Knowledge

  • Expertise in working within an operational environment.
  • Computer literate familiar with Microsoft excel, word and PowerPoint
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to analyse and interpret data – driving insights and recommendations for improvement
  • Presenting technical information to different stakeholders.
  • Ability to deliver results often through others
  • Developing systems (records, working systems etc)
  • Knowledge of Aviation Security is desired

Working Hours:

  • Full Time 
  • Shift work including BH
  • As an operational manager, on occasion you will be required to work outside of the stated hours and days in order to maintain customer operations processes.
