Framework Director - Engineering

Location: Barnsley, South Yorkshire

Sectors: Civil engineering, Environment agency, power stations, heritage civils repairs, bridges and highways

Overview

Join a renowned national contractor recognised for expertise in infrastructure maintenance and engineering that spans various sectors, including the Environment Agency, National Highways, and Network Rail. As a Framework Director, you will be at the forefront of delivering vital frameworks, ensuring safety, quality, and sustainable growth within the Engineering Business Unit.

Role Summary

As the Framework Director, you will manage and enhance civil-related frameworks supporting major clients such as National Highways, Drax, SSE, and Canals and River Trust. With a focus on safety, commercial success, and client relationships, you will drive business development and foster a high-performing team culture. This leadership role commands a substantial annual framework of approximately £20 million.

Key Responsibilities

  • Leadership in SHEQ: Maintain high standards of Safety, Health, Environment, and Quality, ensuring project teams are trained and compliant.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Forge and nurture positive relationships with clients, stakeholders, and internal teams to meet objectives.
  • Contract Management: Oversee the lifecycle of contracts, ensuring all deliverables are met to the client's satisfaction.
  • Business Development: Identify and pursue opportunities for growth in collaboration with operations and business development teams.
  • Operational Oversight: Manage multiple contracts, driving organisational focus on critical business objectives while supporting project teams.
  • Commercial Performance: Collaborate with the commercial team to monitor performance, manage forecasts, and ensure timely payments.
  • Strategy Development: Lead the strategic direction of the business unit, driving both annual and long-term planning.

 

Qualifications and Experience

  • Significant experience in a senior leadership/Director level role within a multi-disciplinary engineering environment.
  • Relevant engineering degree (Bachelor’s or higher).
  • Chartership (CEng, MICE, or FICE) is highly desirable.
  • Proven track record in managing multidisciplinary maintenance engineering projects across civil engineering, power stations, heritage repairs, bridges, and highways.
  • Strong commercial acumen and strategic thinking capabilities.
