It is a great time to join Forgemasters, as the business goes through an ongoing period of growth and modernisation after being acquired by the UK Ministry of Defence In 2021. The acquisition has secured our role as a critical supplier to the next generation of UK defence programmes. As part of this programme of work our plant and equipment will be modernised over the next 10 years, creating new opportunities for the business and our colleagues.
Based at our 64 acre site, sitting in the heart of Sheffield, we are looking for a Heat Treatment Operative. This role will involve operating heat treatment equipment to produce hardened steel rolls.
Role Responsibilities
• To shot blast castings/forgings to standards required
• Creating automated shot blast programmes
• Controlling the automated shot blast
• To ensure all duties are carried out according to quality and health and safety procedures
• Setting up jobs in line with robotic shot blast needs
• Pre-use checks of the shot blast machine
• General upkeep of shot blast equipment & booth
• General housing keeping duties in line with 6s standards
• To work within an agile framework
• To use the Mestec computer system to log all worked hours
• Working with any areas relevant to the shot blast operation
• Willing to train others as and when needed
• Any other duties commensurate with this role
About You
For internal applicants, training will be provided, however the following relevant skills, knowledge and experience are required.
• Willingness to learn
• Self-motivated with the ability to be flexible and use own initiative
• Ability to work within safety procedures
