What can you expect?

Fieldfisher houses one of the UK's leading Personal Injury and Medical Negligence departments.

The Team is split up into 3 market leading practices; Industrial Disease, Serious Injury and Clinical Negligence. A unique opportunity has arisen for an ambitious associate to work alongside a Partner specialising in Serious Injury and Asbestos related claims. 

The Serious Injury team represent Claimants with injuries of the utmost severity including brain damages, spinal injury, amputation, fatal cases and other serious injuries. The Industrial Disease Team represent Claimants with asbestos related conditions many of whom have limited life expectancies and therefore urgent and swift action is required to progress their claims. The work is fast paced and requires dedication. The team is hard-working and dedicated to their clients.

The teams focus on quality and each case is dealt with expertly and with great care to ensure the best possible award is achieved for the Claimant. The focus for each assistant solicitor who joins the team is to build his or her own reputation and knowledge. From the start, you will be working on high value cases and will be expected to take on significant responsibility allowing you to build your own caseload.

We are looking for an energetic, diligent and bright associate. 

Responsibilities

  • Proactively manage own files and support the partners
  • Preparing thorough documentation required in the preparation of cases to trial, including drafting schedules
  • Liaising with counsel/experts
  • Liaising with clients and handling matters with the appropriate sensitivity
  • Preparing statements
  • Preparing court documents

Experience and Knowledge

  • Qualified lawyer NQ-5 years' PQE with good experience in relevant UK claimant serious injury and/or industrial disease work
  • Should be able to demonstrate experience in and have a keen interest in marketing, thinking about their own career pathway
  • An ability to build relationships with the client, family, witnesses, counsel and experts
  • Enthusiastic team player with commitment to quality and client care
  • Good case management skills
  • Strong academic background is essential
  • The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate a real commitment and empathetic approach to Claimants.
