We’re looking for someone to join our North West team, to contribute to our wide and varied work supporting our trade unions, their members and changing the world of work for good.  This is an interesting time as we look to take forward work on the new Employment Rights Bill and tackling the far-right and more.

About the role

The role includes supporting our regional campaigning, policy and research and media work.  You will have the opportunity to work with colleagues, trade unions and other partners to make a difference to working lives through the campaigns, events and work we do.

Who we’re looking for

This position would suit someone who has experience of campaigning and building constructive working relationships with a wide range of stakeholders and who can use their experience and organisational skills to contribute to the success of our unions and delivery of our regional workplan.

What experience, skills, knowledge and understanding do you need?

  • You’ll be committed to the work of trade unions to improve the world of work
  • You’ll able to understand complex issues and exercise sound political judgement
  • You’ll have a good knowledge and strong interest in the economic and social issues affecting working people in the North West
  • You’ll have good knowledge and understanding of key issues for the TUC including current issues in trade unionism and campaigning

If this is you, then we’d like to hear from you.  If you aren’t sure, don’t rule yourself out – you can contact Jay McKenna, our North West Regional Secretary if you have any questions or wanted to have a chat (jmckenna@tuc.org.uk) . You can take a look at our job description and person specification for more information.

We are particularly keen to receive applications from Black, Asian and minority ethnic (BME) applicants who are underrepresented in this part of the TUC but also welcome applications from any candidate.

If you’re BME and considering applying for this post, we invite you to join an online briefing at 12 midday on Thursday 22nd May to hear more about the role and the TUC as an employer.  To register for the briefing, please email jobs@tuc.org.uk by midday, Tuesday 20th May. You don’t need to attend the briefing session to apply for this position.

The closing date for completed applications for this post is 12 midday, Wednesday 28th May. An assessment centre for this post will take place on Thursday 5th June in Liverpool and interviews on Wednesday 25th June in Liverpool.
